Today started long before dawn with the routine question of what to wear. Attire is a make-or-break factor, to me.

Work was a blur, not so much an out-of-control, chaotic blur, but more like a moving-at-the-speed-of-light, incredibly competent blur.

Then as I left around noon to teach two elementary creative writing classes, it was suddenly discovered that a security certificate needed to be reissued, now. These minor emergencies come up quite frequently in our line of work. Having restored order to the world of SSL certification, I went on to teach the fundamentals of essay writing to a group of eager young students.

By the time I left, it was raining cats and dogs. Naturally this was the day I wore leather boots and carried a leather bag. And in retrospect, it might have been a good idea to bring an umbrella.

Zipped across town, picked up mail at Highland office, tried to salvage sad hair situation, stopped for carrot juice at Earth Fare, and headed up to Charles Grayson for highlights. Hair is now shorter, and blonder. It’s a nice change.

The guys met me for dinner and live jazz performance at Rooster’s… got to love those stuffed birds all over the wall. It’s a taxidermist’s wonderland. Finally got home, to finish installing the new security certificate from thawte. Work truly never ends. But that’s a good thing – it keeps us on our toes!
