We have great appreciation for Robert Redford’s film Sneakers… and we watched it a few nights ago for the umpteenth time.
Each character in the movie has their own personality, and their own devoted followers among our family members. Well, most of them do. We fall for Robert Redford’s laidback charm as the mysterious Martin Bishop (Brice), respect Sidney Poitier’s professional demeanor as former FBI agent Donald Crease, laugh at Dan Ackroyd’s hilarious conspiracy theories, indulge the antics of River Phoenix as socially awkward Carl, and think David Strathairn’s portrayal of brilliant blind Whistler is incredible. Even darling Liz is loved for her graciousness and gentility.
Quotations from Sneakers happen frequently in our home… from “Never let him know that you know what he thinks you don’t know, that you know. You know?” to “Shoes? Expensive.”
It’s definitely a family favorite.

Crease was former CIA, not FBI!

Same difference, right? You know he had to leave because of his temper…

Robert Redford was far too old and “creased” to make another movie. My favorite has always been…Crease

But R.R. is perfect as Martin Brice-Bishop. He *has* to be old – that’s the part. What a guy

“Wait a second, are you telling me that the NSA killed Kenedy?”
“No, they shot at him, but they didn’t kill him. He’s still alive.”
